“If You Say So”

June 04, 2023 | Rev. Jeremy Lawson
Passage: Luke 5:1-11

According to the gospel of Luke, one morning Jesus was teaching on the lakeshore when he saw a group of weary fishermen who had been fishing all night but hadn’t caught anything. So, he made an interesting request: “Put out into deep waters and let down your nets for a catch.” Of course, the fishermen thought the request was ludicrous. But little did they know that what awaited them on the other side of saying “yes” was not only a net teeming with fish, but an invitation to a life that would turn their world upside down. We’ll look at how Jesus continues to call us to “cast our nets” in unexpected places and how saying “yes” can turn our world upside down.
