Thanksgiving Ingathering | November 23

Students and families are invited to join us on November 23 at 5:00 p.m. to serve and share a Thanksgiving meal with our neighbors within our Athens community. Your family has the opportunity to volunteer together this holiday season to cook a warm meal, serve our community, and make meaningful connections with our neighbors. Every year, over 100 volunteers from our Student Ministry families join us for this incredible night of service together.

The doors will open at 5:00 p.m., and dinner will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Students and their families can serve in a number of ways:

    • Greeters — Greeters will greet guests as they arrive, assist with making nametags, and offer any additional information that guests may need.
    • Setup Crew — Setup crew ensures Hancock is set with tablecloths, place settings, and any other decorations.
    • Cleanup Crew — At the conclusion of Ingathering, the cleanup crew will help clean Hancock Hall and the kitchen.
    • Dish Washing Crew - These volunteers will help to wash and clean dishes as they return to the kitchen.
    • Food Servers — These volunteers will either help prepare the plates or serve guests at their tables.
    • Extra Thankful Bag Station — As guests leave following dinner, volunteers will pass out Extra Thankful Bags.
    • Floater/Hospitality — Throughout Ingathering, floaters will be available to assist guests and other volunteers with any needs that arise.

    Extra-Thankful Bags

In collaboration with Student Ministry’s Thanksgiving Ingathering meal, our Missions Ministry will be offering our guests “Extra-Thankful Bags” filled with Thanksgiving inspired pantry staples. We are asking YOU, our congregation, to join in helping fill these food bags. Empty bags and shopping lists can be found at the church’s front desk. Grab one (or a couple), fill the bag with the listed items, and return the filled bag to the church by November 18. Together, we will ensure this is an EXTRA special Thanksgiving for our guests.
