    Job Title: Assistant Director of Student & Recreation Ministry

    Reports To: Associate Minister of Students

    FSLA Status: Full-time, Exempt

    Position Summary

    The Assistant Director of Student & Recreation Ministry is a dual-focused role that supports Student Ministry and oversees the Recreation Ministry at Athens First UMC. The position works closely with the Associate Minister of Students on ministry programming while managing administrative responsibilities for the Recreation Ministry.

    Key Responsibilities

    Student Ministry

    · Lead and support weekly student programming, including Sunday morning groups, Sunday evening gatherings, and midweek programming.

    · Build and nurture relationships with students and families of Athens First UMC.

    · Recruit, train, and equip volunteers for small groups and events.

    · Assist with planning and execution of retreats, mission trips, and special events.

    · Ensure timely communication with students, parents, and volunteers.

    · Collaborate with ministry staff to support the mission and vision of Athens First.

    Recreation Ministry

    · Coordinate Athens First UMC recreation opportunities, including basketball, summer camps, and facility usage agreements.

    · Manage recreation registrations, scheduling, communication, and league logistics.

    · Recruit, train, and supervise recreation staff and volunteer coaches.

    · Maintain recreation equipment, sports inventory, jerseys and uniforms, and recreational facility needs.

    · Support a welcoming environment for children and families participating in the recreation programs of Athens First UMC.

    · Collaborate with ministry staff to support the mission and vision of Athens First.

    Required Qualifications

    · Bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, or related field (or equivalent experience).

    · Experience working with children, youth, and families within a church, camp, or educational setting.

    · Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

    · Ability to provide leadership while developing meaningful relationships with students and families.

    · Commitment to the beliefs and mission of The United Methodist Church.

    · Experience in recreation leadership, fundraising, athletics, or community programming preferred.

    · Ability to manage multiple programs and provide effective communication with staff, families, and volunteers at Athens First UMC.

    Schedule

    Sunday–Thursday; occasional weekends for retreats, trips, and events. Occasional Saturdays required during recreation seasons.

    Salary Range

    $40,000 - $45,000
