A place for students in grades 6-12 to worship through music, build friendships, and serve through song.
The Wesleyan Youth Choir is a non-auditioned youth choir for students in grades 6-12. You do not have to be a church member to join. We rehearse once a week on Sundays from 4:30-5:45 p.m. and sing in worship, in the community, and across the nation on our annual summer choir tour. In addition, we produce a Variety Show each spring — a favorite churchwide tradition! We welcome all students who love to sing.
Travel with the youth choir to Buford for our first ever Fall Retreat! We will use the choir rooms at Buford First UMC to work on beautiful singing technique and dig into our Fall/Christmas music.
Lunch will be served and then we will drive to Fins Up Water Park for several hours of water fun! Bring money for snacks at the water park. You must be registered to attend.
Janis MaxwellJanis has been part of the Athens First UMC music staff since 1998, directing the Wesleyan Youth Choir since 2005. She is passionate about mentoring young musicians and serves on the board of the Atlanta Chapter of the Choristers’ Guild.
Brandi GarrettBrandi has been our “choir mom” since 2023, coordinating parent volunteers and nurturing a welcoming choir family. She and her husband, Jason, have two children, Liam and Lyra.
Vincent TongVincent joined our team in 2024 and is a doctoral candidate in piano performance at UGA. He and his wife, Remy, are parents to twin daughters and a newborn son.
