In 2022, our six United Methodist Women Circles faithfully served our communities locally, nationally, and worldwide. As part of our mission efforts, our circles contributed $4,800 to UMW projects helping women, children, and youth in the United States and around the world. A contribution of $1,157.97 was also given to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and $276 to Samaritan Purse's Operation Christmas Child and Ukraine outreach. An additional $24,878.06 was given for local church and community work.
Local missions included contributions to Project Safe, Books for Keeps, Salvation Army, Lydia's Place, Church Women United Dues and Shoe Fund, Missions Sunday Sack Lunch Ministry, Northeast Georgia Food Bank, Our Daily Bread, Bigger Vision Homeless Shelter, Athens Historical Society, Cafe 140 Missions, Divas Who Win Freedom Center, Athens Sports Arena Foundation, and Whispering Pines Personal Care Home.
Our UMW also contributed to our church's missions which included gifts and gift cards at Christmas for families through The Salvation Army Angel Tree program, Souper Suppers, Missions Sunday Sack Lunch Ministry, Athens Area Diaper Bank, Missions Reverse Advent Calendars to supply our Supper Supper store, Organ Fund, Missions baskets, and Recreation Summer Camp scholarships. Funds were given for memorials, yearbooks, and nurturing our homebound church members by providing gifts at Christmas and cards at Christmas and Easter. Gifts of appreciation were also given to our departing ministers.
