Cub Scouts

Pack 1 is an active Cub Scout Pack, focused on teaching and learning outdoor skills, citizenship and personal development for boys in grades 1-5. The pack is closely connected with Boy Scout Troop 1 and has a fully-trained and devoted leadership team.

In addition to monthly pack meetings, and annual events like Pinewood Derby and regular service projects, we camp frequently as dens and as a pack.

There is a den for each grade level that meets on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. in the Pack 1 Cub Scout Hut, located at 415 N. Lumpkin Street, with addtional dens that meet during other times for some grades.

To learn more about a den or events available for your child, contact Jim Hilliard at (860) 798-0657.

Boy Scouts

Troop 1 has been continuously chartered by Athens First UMC for nearly 80 years and serves boys who are in 6-12th grade.  It is an active and growing Boy Scout unit that is led by the boys with the mentoring and support of a strong Troop Committee.  Troop 1 Scouts camp monthly, attend a week of summer camp each summer, and regularly participate in District and Council events including contingents to Philmont Scout Ranch and National Jamborees.  A high percentage of Troop 1 Scouts earn religious medals in their faith and attain the rank of Eagle Scout.

Troop 1 meets on Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm in the Scout Hut at 415 N. Lumpkin Street across from the church.  For additional information, contact Scoutmaster Jonathan Fite .
