Souper Suppers

Overview

Souper Suppers is a ministry within our church that provides a warm meal to those in need once a week on Thursday evenings January through April.

There were four ways to be involved:

  • Hospitality and Service
  • Gym
  • Make a Meal
  • Store Donations/Children's Blessing Bags

Hospitality and Service

Sign up to help with greeting,  work the welcome table (make name tags for workers and guests), be a table host in the dining room and welcome community guests into our church home, serve in the gym, or serve in the store. There are several opportunities for you to serve the community guests and we hope you will join us in loving on our neighbors in this way!

Gym Time: Fellowship & Children Activities

Before the meal each Thursday of Souper Suppers, the gym is open for children to play basketball and do a small craft or coloring activity from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult while in the gym, and at 4:35 will be guided back into the Hancock Ave. entryway to wait with their parents for their numbers to be called. Volunteers are invited to spend time with our community guests by playing basketball in the gym, coloring and/or playing games in the snack area, or simply talking and spending time with the guests from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Make a Meal

To make a meal, you can sign-up with your Sunday School class, small group, United Methodist Women Circle, or any other small group to prepare and serve a meal.

If interested, you can sign up HERE or contact Sarah Beth to find out available dates and to sign up.

Store Donations

The Souper Suppers store is an opportunity for guests at the Souper Suppers meal to receive necessary personal care and household items.

We greatly appreciate donations of our most needed store items:

  • Spam
  • Peanut Butter Crackers
  • Dish Soap
  • Toilet Paper 4 Packs.

Donations of these items can be dropped off in the basket located down the hall from the front receptionist desk or in Sarah Beth's office (Room 111).

Children's Blessing Bags

Each week volunteers put together 75 Blessing Bags that are distributed to the children guests of Souper Suppers. These bags are filled with 5 shelf stable snack items and a fun item. Example: chips, juice box, granola bar, fruit snacks, cheese crackers, and a fun item. You can sign up with a group to put together these bags and add your own favorite snacks. Sign up HERE to make bags at the link below or contact Kimberly Liebowitz for more information.
