Pack 1 is an active Cub Scout Pack, focused on teaching and learning outdoor skills, citizenship and personal development for boys in grades 1-5. The pack is closely connected with Boy Scout Troop 1 and has a fully-trained and devoted leadership team.
In addition to occasional pack meetings and annual events like Pinewood Derby and regular service projects, we camp several times each year as dens and as a pack.
There is a den for each grade level that meets on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 p.m.

Venturing is a co-educational program of the Boy Scouts of America for youth/young adults who are 14 – 20 years of age. Venturing is youth-led and directed. The three missions of the Scout Venturing Program are Leadership, Service, and Adventure. Venture Crew 1 has been sponsored by Athens First United Methodist Church since 2013.
Crew 1 has capable leadership from Jim Timberlake, Katie McCollum, Amy Atao, and Marcus Fechheimer. Crew 1 activities each year are selected by the youth. Crew 1 traveled to Philmont Scout Ranch in Summer 2015, and to Yellowstone National Park in Summer 2018.
Crew 1 meets at FUMC one Sunday each month at 1 pm, and has one outing each month. The first crew activity of the 2018-2019 year was a Whitewater Kayaking trip in August. The youth plans for the remainder of the year include shooting sports, biking, climbing, hiking, and camping. Please join us, and let us know what activities you would like to do!

Girl Scouts strive to help girls discover, connect, and take action whether it is improving the girl herself, her community, or the world. The organization helps create confident girls with character. Troop 12051 at Athens First United Methodist Church offers programming for girls in Kindergarten through grade 10. Scouts interact in age-level groups often, and the whole troop gathers yearly at our spring campout. The older girls (grade 6 and up) are currently planning a trip to Our Chalet in Switzerland.
