Erika Bates grew up outside of Augusta, Georgia, and moved to Athens in 2001 to attend the University of Georgia. After graduating from UGA with degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice, she interned with the UGA Wesley Foundation for two years. Erika worked for the Clarke County School District for five years as a literacy interventionist before leaving to follow her passions for organization, efficiency, writing, and Jesus to an administrative position with our church in 2012. She loves supporting the work of the Kingdom in our church and city by helping people and events stay organized and grammatically correct. Erika married her husband Matthew in 2007 and they joyfully welcomed their miracle baby Camilla into the family in 2014. Erika and her family worship at Athens Vineyard Church, where she enjoys singing on the worship team and volunteering in the nursery. In her spare (and not-spare) time, Erika reads altogether too many books, talks to the flowers in her garden, and is active in the infertility and adoption community.
