Katherine Hodges was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. She received her Bachelors of Fine Arts from Mississippi State University with an emphasis in photography and a minor in journalism. While attending MSU, Katherine enrolled in the National Student Exchange program, which allowed her to attend California State University and Hunter College in New York. She met Mike Hodges while attending MSU and they were married in 2010. They welcomed their son James in 2011 and their daughter Emma in 2014. Prior to moving to Athens in 2009, Katherine’s primary career focus was on the arts and the outdoors. She served as a white water rafting guide in Colorado while Mike was deployed to Iraq with the U.S. Army. Katherine and Mike’s move to Athens was an “adventurous” decision based on their desire to be in a town with an active art community, the town’s close proximity to the mountains, and their prayer that God would lead their way. Katherine and her family worship at Redeemer Presbyterian Church and she believes that God answered her prayer to be surrounded daily by the body of Christ by leading her to work in our church. Although she greatly values the relationships she’s built with both the staff and congregation of our church, Katherine insists that it’s merely an amusing coincidence that both her husband (Charles Michael) and son (Charles James) share their first and last names with Chuck Hodges, her boss and the senior pastor of our church.
