Made for Praise
Music and Arts Week is a fun-filled three-day camp held June 12-14, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. Children currently in Kindergarten through grade 4 will look at, listen to, and learn all about instruments made for praise!
Look & Listen
Each day of camp will begin by meeting and hearing from local professional musicians who play a variety of instruments.
Each age group will focus on learning the basics of a particular instrument and will prepare songs to share at the conclusion of camp.
All kids will explore ukulele, recorder, mallet percussion, and junkyard jam.
During this S.T.E.A.M. class with local educator Mr. Bill Nelson, kids will have the opportunity to explore the hows and whys of music, instruments, and the great beyond!
We'll learn together about instruments in local, regional, and world cultures, and about how we can get involved in helping bring music education to other kids in our own community and across the ocean. Activities will also include daily chapel and gym time led by Athens First United Methodist Church staff.
Children should bring a lunch with them each day. We encourage everyone to bring peanut-free food, as we always have participants with this particular allergy. Snacks are provided. Carpool drop-off is available in the main drive-through from 8:45-9:00 a.m. each day. You may also drop off in Hancock Hall. Pick-up is in Hancock Hall at 3:00 p.m. each day. On Thursday afternoon, please join us at 3:00 p.m. for an informal time of sharing what we learned throughout the week.
Child registration is open March 1 through May 31, or until spaces are filled. The registration fee is $35 per child on or before May 1, and $45 after. Scholarships are available.
