5th Grade Safety Patrol

“Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13

I moved to a new school in fourth grade and it was not an easy transition. Fifth grade was even more difficult, and the leadership of my elementary school must have known I needed a little “boost.” I was invited to serve on the carline “Safety Patrol,” and I was beyond excited.  When I arrived early, I would receive my bright yellow reflective safety vest, and I was more confident to serve in this role.

Paul writes to the Ephesians (and to us) to prepare ourselves and be ready for the day when the evil one will challenge the strength of our faith. When we arm ourselves by studying the Word of God and when we remain faithful, we will be ready to respond to the things of this world with truth and confidence.  Our confidence comes from the Lord and our hope is in the Lord.

I realize wearing my safety vest in fifth grade and putting on the “Armor of God” in my Christian walk are very different. However, when you need a little “boost,” trust that the Lord is always looking out for you and will send what you need in his perfect timing. Prepare your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, today and every day.
