Josh Miles is a native of Athens, Clarke County Schools, and Athens First United Methodist Church. Josh got an early taste for life behind a news desk in the fifth grade when he served as a renowned anchor and sports reporter for Barnett Shoals Elementary Television (BSE-TV). He went on to play basketball in middle and high school and dreamed of working for ESPN and becoming famous for his sports coverage. In pursuit of a career in sports journalism, Josh completed his Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill and went on to get a Master’s degree in Telecommunications at UGA. In his time at UNC, Josh served in leadership at the Wesley Foundation. At UGA, Josh wrote high school sports stories for the Athens Banner-Herald Newspaper, broadcasted Clarke Central football games for Gladiator Internet TV, and led with small groups and the youth at the church. Josh never got the call from ESPN, but he did answer his call from the Lord to ministry in the local church. Although his dreams of a career in sports broadcasting have been far surpassed by serving the church, Josh remains passionate about college sports and can often be heard singing college marching band fight songs in his office while working. Josh joined the staff of our church in 2013 and loves sharing in the joy of the Lord with his brothers and sisters in Christ. In May 2020, Josh graduated from Candler School of Theology with a Masters of Divinity. He is on the elder track to be ordained in the United Methodist Church.
